Welcome to Morocco! Your adventure begins when you arrive in Casablanca, where an Odyssey Morocco representative will meet you at the airport and take you by private transportation to our hotel.
If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, we’ll be happy to suggest some optional activities so you can start exploring on your own. That evening, once everyone has arrived, we’ll meet our tour leader for a welcome briefing and an overview of what’s ahead. Then we’ll head out for our first dinner together, enjoying delicious traditional Moroccan cuisine.
Included: Airport greeter, private transportation, accommodations
We’ll start the day with a morning visit to the beautiful Hassan II Mosque, dramatically set along the Atlantic Ocean in Casablanca. It’s the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors, and its incredible scale can accommodate up to 25,000 worshippers inside and another 80,000 outside.
From Casablanca, we’ll make our way to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where we’ll explore the Udaya Kasbah, Hassan Tower, and the mausoleum of Mohammed V.
By evening, we’ll arrive in Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains and known as Morocco’s “Blue Pearl.” We’ll have time to take in its charming blue-washed medina before settling in for the evening. Chefchaouen is always a favorite with our guests—and it’s easy to see why!
Included: Breakfast, entrance fees, private local guide, transportation, accommodations
We’ll spend the day in Chefchaouen, where nearly every turn offers another photo-worthy view. After a relaxed orientation walk through the medina with our tour leader, you can choose how you’d like to spend the rest of the day. Take your time wandering the blue-washed streets, browsing the shops and cafés, or head into the surrounding mountains for a more active day of hiking.
It’s also a great opportunity to slow down and catch up on jet lag if you need it. Whether you’re exploring the medina or taking in the mountain scenery, Chefchaouen is a beautiful place to enjoy at your own pace.
Included: Breakfast, orientation walk through the medina, transportation, accommodations
We’ll leave Chefchaouen in the morning and make our way to Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most fascinating Roman-era sites. Morocco has been a crossroads of cultures and civilizations for centuries, and the influence of those cultures can still be seen today. At Volubilis, we’ll explore the extensive remains of this ancient Roman city, including remarkably preserved mosaics that have survived for centuries.
Later that afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fes, the historic heart of Moroccan art, culture, and craftsmanship. That evening, we’ll join our guide for dinner in the historic Fes medina, where we’ll enjoy pastilla—a delicious traditional pastry filled with chicken and savory spices—in a local home. It’s a wonderful way to experience both the flavors and hospitality of Morocco.
Included: Breakfast, private tour of Volubilis, transportation, pastilla dinner, accommodations
Once the capital of Morocco, Fes has been a center of scholarship, craftsmanship, and trade for centuries. With our guide, we’ll explore the winding streets and passages of the historic Fes medina, said to contain more than 10,000.
Along the way, we’ll visit an artisanal cooperative where master craftsmen and their apprentices create the intricate zellige tilework and pottery Morocco is famous for. We’ll also explore the beautiful Al-Attarine Medrasa, known for its stunning tilework and carved plaster. Once a Koranic school, it has been a place of learning for centuries.
We’ll finish our tour at the famed Chouara Tanneries, which have been operating since the 13th century. Here, traditional methods are still used to soften and dye leather, offering a fascinating glimpse into one of Fes’s oldest crafts.
Included: Breakfast, private local guide, entrance fees, transportation, accommodations
Today, we’ll leave the energy and excitement of Fes behind and journey toward Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara. Along the way, we’ll wind through the beautiful Middle and High Atlas Mountains, with plenty of scenery to enjoy from the comfort of our private transportation. We’ll make stops along the way for lunch and a cup of Moroccan tea before arriving in Erfoud.
Included: Breakfast, transportation, accommodations
Today, we’ll get our first taste of the incredible Sahara Desert. We’ll start with a relaxed morning, giving you the option to explore a local market or head out on an optional ATV adventure.
Then we’ll visit the village of Khemliya, where we’ll experience traditional Gnaoua music and enjoy a taste of local cuisine with the village women’s famous “Berber pizza.” After lunch, we’ll make our way to the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes, where we’ll climb aboard camels and ride into our Sahara camp.
A night in the Sahara is often one of the highlights of our guests’ trips. After a delicious dinner at camp, we’ll gather around the campfire to listen to Berber music, share stories, and take in the incredible desert sky.
Included: Breakfast, lunch, camel ride, dinner, transportation, accommodations
Sunrise over the Sahara is every bit as magical as sunset, so we’ll want to wake up early to watch the first light sweep across the dunes. After breakfast, we’ll make our way back to our transportation by camel or 4x4—whichever you prefer.
From the desert, we’ll journey to the spectacular Todra Gorge. After a walk through the gorge with our tour leader, we’ll settle in for a delicious dinner. If you’d like to try something a little different, our guide can also arrange an optional henna experience.
Included: Breakfast, camel ride, walk through Todra Gorge, dinner, transportation, accommodations
If today’s sights look familiar, it may be because you’ve seen them on the big screen! We’ll begin the day with a scenic drive through the Dades Valley before visiting the beautifully preserved Kasbah Amridil in Skoura.
From Skoura, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Moroccan Hollywood.” If you’re interested, our guide can arrange an optional visit to one of the film studios where some of Morocco’s most famous movie scenes were filmed.
Later in the afternoon, we’ll arrive at the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and a backdrop for films and television shows including Gladiator. Our guide will lead us through the ancient ksar and up to the top of the village, where we’ll take in the surrounding views.
If you’d like to learn more about Morocco’s traditional rugs or are interested in purchasing one, we can also arrange a visit to a local women’s cooperative. We’ll end the day with dinner at our accommodations.
Included: Breakfast, entrance fee to Kasbah Amridil, walking tour of Ait Ben Haddou, dinner, transportation, accommodations
