Overview
This 3-day journey is one of Morocco’s most iconic road trips, offering a mix of mountain scenery, ancient kasbahs, dramatic gorges, and the unforgettable Sahara Desert. Starting from Marrakech, you’ll traverse the High Atlas Mountains, explore historic sites, and end your days under the golden dunes of Merzouga.
Morning: Pickup from Marrakech (~7:30–8:00 AM). Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n'Tichka Pass.
Late Morning: Stop at Aït Ben Haddou, the famous UNESCO ksar. Explore the village and have lunch nearby.
Afternoon: Short stop in Ouarzazate (optional Atlas Studios visit). Continue the scenic drive to Dades Valley.
Evening: Arrive in Dades, visit the Dades Gorges, and see the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations.
Morning: Breakfast in Dades. Depart for Todra Gorges (~1.5 hours). Walk through the canyon and enjoy the cliffs.
Midday: Continue drive to Merzouga (~4 hours). Lunch along the way.
Afternoon: Arrive in Merzouga and prepare for camel trek into Erg Chebbi dunes.
Sunset: Camel ride into the desert and watch the sunset.
Evening: Arrive at Sahara desert camp. Dinner and optional Berber music around the campfire. Overnight in camp.
Early Morning: Optional sunrise camel ride over the dunes. Breakfast at the camp.
Morning: Depart Merzouga for the return journey to Marrakech (~8–9 hours including stops).
Afternoon: Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate or along the route. Scenic drive back through the High Atlas Mountains.
Evening: Arrive in Marrakech. Drop-off at your riad/hotel. End of trip
