Katie, a freelance video editor in desperate need of work, receives a high-paying offer from an anonymous employer to edit a mysterious and strange video. With cash and the threat of eviction, Katie eagerly accepts the gig. The video depicts people being tortured and even killed in front of the camera – surely just an elaborately staged fiction. But when that first job leads to even more productive work and disturbingly realistic snuff films, Katie’s life begins to crumble. Strange figures in his apartment, terrifying nightmares that keep him awake, and a mysterious illness that afflicts his cat. It’s only when Katie finally decides to quit her job that she learns just how cruel her nameless employer really is, and how much she herself intends to get out of her contract.
